The last table for a larger group often attracts several interested guests at once. One is still entering their details while another opens the same layout. Without temporary hold rules, the availability shown on screen can easily diverge from what can actually be reserved.
100LICA supports time-limited holds on selected seats. During that period, the system checks availability and prevents competing requests from claiming the same seats at the same time.
Time to complete the selection
A temporary hold gives a guest time to finish the step they have started. It is not proof of payment or final confirmation of attendance. When the time expires without the required next step, the seats can become available again.
The duration should fit the reservation flow. Too short a window puts pressure on guests entering their details. Too long a window can unnecessarily keep seats from other guests. The duration is therefore set within each event’s rules.
What happens when selections overlap?
Consider two people choosing the same four seats. What matters is the state accepted when the request is processed, rather than who opened the page first. If the seats have been taken in the meantime, the second selection must change.
For organisers, availability is more than a colour on the floor plan. It relies on checks when records are written. For guests, a selection may need to be checked again if a page has been left open for too long.
Explain what each status means
Messages about deadlines and status should be clear. “Seats temporarily held” and “reservation confirmed” describe different situations. Staff should use the same terms when responding by phone or email.
Before opening sales, work through a complete example: a selection, an expired hold and a new attempt. This lets the team see the guest’s actual experience and prepare answers to common questions.
